I’ve been looking forward to ordering my textbooks, because I really want to get them scanned and start studying them. I got my primary Physics and Chemistry books on CD from the RFB&D, but it is much less convenient than just having it on my computer. Sometimes they are hard to rewind when I want to hear a certain sentence again, which is very inconvenient when I’m trying to take notes as I am listening to the person speak on the CD. Sometimes it just shuts off, and then I have to find my page and exact spot again.
Anyway, I had to wait for the remainder of my loan to come in, since I had about 7 books I needed to order (plus some electronic device for Chemistry), so it was not going to be cheap.
The other day, I was complaining about this fact to my mom, and asked if I had gotten any mail. She had not checked, so she did so after I asked her.
It just so happened that I had indeed gotten my check! It was in the amount of $6,521.36. This number stands out in my memory, for no particular reason. I just memorize things when I need/want to.
So, I went ahead and ordered them. The grand total was $802.45! I had no idea it was going to be so much. I naively thought it would be about $400 or so.
The next day, though, I called the bookstore to see if they could find out whether I could get these in an alternative format. Student services don’t know if they will be able to accurately scan formulas and such. I, also, don’t know. Surely there must be a way.
The bookstore said that they would contact the publishers and see whether such formats were available, and call me back, so I am waiting. Hopefully this all goes rather smoothly and quickly.
