Adhering to a Schedule

I’ve been trying to make myself follow a stricter schedule. There are so many things I want to do, and if I don’t try to follow a schedule, pointless internet surfing will take over the majority of the day. I want to study, program The Elemental Quiz, work on memorization from the information I have in SuperMemo, add new information to SuperMemo, search for new and interesting articles to read, read Dune, read The Power of Now, and blog regularly on both blogs.

I realized recently that SuperMemo has a schedule planning feature. I therefore read up on it, and promptly started to use it.

The schedule on Friday went decently. It wasn’t perfect, but it was OK. I studied for an hour, programmed for a while, read Dune (probably for too long, over my time limit at least), worked on learning the data in SuperMemo, and blogged.

The schedule yesterday was not so great, because I spent way too much time on a particular time I had for the internet, and it took longer than I expected to create my questions for SuperMemo. I decided to work on importing data about a few of the elements.

I’m trying to develop more self-discipline before I go back to college next semester, because I don’t’ know how difficult things will be. I am afraid of getting behind if I am not able to make myself study enough, so I want to develop the habit now. I also want to break my addiction to the internet and certain forums I frequent.

I do find myself getting bored with the internet, so that at least is a good sign. I just need to fill that void with something else now, like study.
